uwb is pretty neat. in the last few months i started getting 3/4ths of a gigabit of downstream bandwidth on a lot of nyc streets on my ordinary verizon plan.

cellular carriers are using some variety of 3GPP rev-whatever standard, the UWB mentioned in this article is something totally different.
